サクラダ・ファミリアの「平和の砦」

スペイン・バルセロナで、サグラダ・ファミリアのメインタワー「イエスの塔」が完成し世界中から注目を集めています。

1882年の着工から140年以上を経て、世界で最も高い教会となりました。
『未完の世界遺産』といわれていますが、実は世界遺産に登録されているのは建物の一部アントニオ・ガウディが手掛けた作品群として「生誕のファザードと地下礼拝堂」の2か所のみ。

とくに自然を愛するガウディは木のように枝分かれしている柱や木漏れ日のようなステンドグラス、コンピューターのない時代に緻密に計算された構造などから、

他に類をみない顕著な普遍的価値として高く評価されています。

世界遺産の平和理念でもあるユネスコ憲章の前文には「戦争は人の心の中に生まれるものであるから、人の心の中に平和のとりでを築かなければならない」と書かれています。

世界遺産は国境や人種を越えて全人類にとって未来の世代に残すべき価値のあるものをもっていること。

「The Sagrada Família: A “Fortress of Peace”」

In Barcelona, ​​Spain, the “Tower of Jesus”—the main tower of the Sagrada Família—has been completed, drawing attention from around the globe.

More than 140 years after construction began in 1882, it has become the tallest church in the world.
Although often referred to as an “unfinished World Heritage site,” only specific parts of the structure—the Nativity Façade and the Crypt, created by Antoni Gaudí—are actually registered as World Heritage sites.

Gaudí, a lover of nature, is highly acclaimed for the site’s outstanding universal value—seen in features such as columns that branch out like trees, stained glass that evokes sunlight filtering through foliage, and a structure meticulously calculated in an era before computers.

The preamble to the UNESCO Constitution, which embodies the World Heritage philosophy of peace, states: “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.”
